About the Event
A biennial, edu-music guitar festival hosted by Friends of the Cape Town Academy of Music with a guitar competition founded by Avril Kinsey for the purposes of growing and sustaining an interest in quality guitar music, within and beyond the borders of South Africa.

The Festival programme includes formal and informal concerts, master classes, workshops/talks, and exhibits. The Avril Kinsey Classical Guitar Competition is open to all, of any age or level.

Vision: As the fundraising support arm of the Cape Town Academy of Music, FCTAM’s vision is to bring quality music education and music events within the reach of most South African families.
Mission: To foster talent and musical excellence through education, performances and festival events.
Objectives: To grow and sustain an interest in quality music through impacting the youth, students, teachers, families and the general public with edutaining events.
To attract funding and sponsorships from businesses, organizations and individuals for events, and for providing music education bursaries/scholarships for study at the Cape Town Academy of Music
To attract South African and international music students, performers, teachers and music lovers to the Cape Town International Guitar Festival.
To encourage careers in classical guitar disciplines by focussing on special projects related to this study.
To provide incentives for friends to join, participate and be a part of our vision.
